The Rolls Royce of French Presses

Lets first get one thing straight, when it comes to making the best French Presses in the world nobody has game like Bodum. While their wares are a tad pricey, the quality is unbeatable and they last a lifetime. That is if you take care of them. The one issue is that the glass presses, if going in and out of the dishwasher, will inevitably fall prey to clumsiness and break. To mitigate that issue, spend the extra couple of dollars and purchase the Columbia model. The double-wall stainless steal construction is unbreakable, it keeps your coffee warm for an hour, and even enables you to place it on the stove-top burner for a quick reheat. What more could you want.

Sartorial Perfection

Sartorial - A definition

Picking and Fitting the Dress Shirt

No matter the price or quality, if a dress shirt does not fit comfortably around the collar, it is useless. To determine if the collar fits properly, button your top button and see if you can comfortably fit two fingers between the collar and your neck. Generally, finer shirt makers add half an inch to the correct size to account for shrinkage. If your shirt fits absolutely perfectly when you first try it one, you should move a half an inch up in collar size so that you will be able to wear the shirt for years to come.

The width of the shirt should be comfortable enough so that there is no tension across the shirt when sitting down. The length should be long enough so that when you reach your arms over your head, the shirt tail should not come out of your pants. When determining the correct cuff circumference, if you can slide your hand through the barrel of the buttoned cuff, it is too large. Sleeve length should be so that you can straighten or bend your arm without the cuff moving away from your wrist.

Finer points:

The tips of your collar should always remain in contact with the body of the shirt. Also, a proper fitting jacket should always cover the very end points of one's collar.

The always fly Prince Charles shows how its done.

The Foundation

It would not be proper to begin any other way than with an excerpt from Emmerson's essay Self Reliance:

There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at
the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide;
that he must take himselffor better or for worse as his portion;
that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of
nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil
bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till...
Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.
Accept the place thedivine providence has found for you,
the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events.
